Molly Pitcher Rest Stop

I've been down in Baltimore recently studying with my twin brother, and I've built up a collection of pictures, so here they are.

Molly Pitcher as a nickname given to women who brought water to soldiers as they were firing cannons during the Revolutionary War. The most famous one, fought in the battle of Monmouth and when here husband was wounded took his place at a cannon. She was later awarded a warrant as a noncommissioned officer by George Washington. Apparrently there were several women who did similar deeds during the Revolutionary War and the record is a little confused, but the two top candidates are Mary Hays MacCauly and Margaret Corbin. Posted by Picasa
