Mush!

The greatest race in the world, the Iditarod has started. It is already one of the most exciting Ititarods ever. Top contender Paul Gebhardt crashed into a tree yesterday and his sled tracings broke and he was knocked off. Sled dogs love running more than anything else and his dogs sped off without him. Gebhardt walked two miles until he met another team and hitched a ride with another musher until they met some buffalo hunters with snowmobiles. They gave him a ride to catch up with his team who were ten miles down the trail - and still running! Gebhardt dropped to 5th place, but has since reclaimed the lead from Montanan and four time winner Doug Swingley, but as Andy Moderow would say. At this point even the mushers can't really tell who is in the lead.
Gebhardt's perseverance after disaster is the truest spirit of the Iditarod. And his dogs too. Many huskies would keep running after they lost their musher, but its a rare team that would run so fast that they could still win the race. Support the underdog. Root for Paul Gebhardt.
Click on the cute dog to go to the Iditarod web site, and follow the race. Come on. You know you want to. He's so cute...
